At Native, we believe that the choices we make as individuals matter, not just for ourselves, but for the planet. In a world where consumer capitalism constantly tempts us to spend without thinking, it’s easy to forget that our purchases ripple outwards, shaping supply chains, industries, and ecosystems. That’s why we’re proud to shine a light on our partner Ecoswap, who are making it easier than ever to spend in line with our values.

Ecoswap is reimagining the humble gift card. Their digital multi-choice gift card curates a catalogue of certified sustainable and ethical businesses. From eco-friendly products to meaningful experiences and impact projects, Ecoswap’s platform gives individuals and companies a way to redirect spending towards the regenerative economy.

As Paul Zu, co-founder and CTO, explains: household consumption is the driving force behind nearly 70% of greenhouse gas emissions. That means shifting consumer choices isn’t a small lever, it’s one of the most powerful tools we have in tackling the climate crisis. Ecoswap’s mission is to move the needle on consumption, making it simple and rewarding for people and businesses to support brands that are genuinely doing right by people and planet.

The scale of the opportunity is enormous. The global gift card industry is worth up to a trillion dollars and by carving out a slice of that market, Ecoswap is both building a viable business and helping to elevate the businesses leading the charge for sustainability. By working with employers, Ecoswap also helps companies engage employees and clients in ways that reinforce shared values and make sustainability tangible.

Through this partnership Ecoswap card holders will be able to use their credit to purchase Native Squares, protecting pristine rainforest in the Solomon Islands one Square at a time. These users will receive an email with instructions for how to sign up to Native and claim their Square, at which point they will be able to actually see their Square directly on the Native map as well as tracking their impact across carbon, biodiversity and social impact.

Our partnership is a natural fit. Just as Native provides tools to map, measure, and engage with impact in a way that is transparent and rewarding, Ecoswap is empowering people to bring their everyday spending into alignment with their beliefs. Together, we’re making it easier to resist the pull of thoughtless consumerism and instead channel our resources into building a future where people and nature thrive.

At its heart, Ecoswap’s work is about reconnection. As Paul shared, nature provides both a deep sense of belonging and a wellspring of resources that sustain life. Protecting nature is not only the right choice, it’s a fundamentally human one. By making sustainable spending accessible, playful, and impactful, Ecoswap helps us all remember that our choices matter, and that every purchase is a chance to care for the world we depend on.

We’re excited to be walking this path together!
